Doina Kraal graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam in 2002, where she studied at the department 'voorheen audio visueel' (fine art and new media). After her studies in Amsterdam she did a Masters in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. She now lives and works in Amsterdam again.
She makes installations and site-specific pieces. The media she uses are often sources of light; film-, video- and slide-projections, artificial or natural light or photographs, often combined with sculpture and sound. By making an installation, she creates an ephemeral world for the viewer to step into.
